One of the most pertinent research questions about intermittent spray cooling concerns its efficiency compared with continuous sprays. This comparison is made in Moreira and Panão (2006) between an intermittent gasoline spray impact and two other continuous sprays using water (Cabrera and Gonzalez) and using FC-72 dielectric fluid (Shedd and Pautsch). Results showed that intermittent sprays have the potential for high efficiency heat extraction.
